Our Purpose and Mission

New Start School has designed its program to provide prospective nurse assistants and allied health practitioners with the knowledge and skills to work as proficient professionals. Although careful to respect the religious diversity among its staff and students, the administrators of the school seek to reflect the compassion of Jesus, “Who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed….”  (Acts 10:38).  Students are taught that all humans have physical, emotional, mental, social, and spiritual qualities and that their work is best approached from this holistic point of view.

The school’s objectives are:

  • To provide students with a positive learning environment.

  • To ensure that students are provided the materials and instruction that will prepare them to take the Texas State CNA examination.

  • To share with students, by instruction and example, the ethics of the profession and the moral values of basic Christianity.

  • To assist students to become proficient in their chosen profession and enable them to serve in a real-world job situation.

  • To arrange clinical experience for students that will provide “hands-on” training for the mutual benefit of themselves and those whom they will serve.

  • To improve the quality of life in the Rio Grande Valley by training residents for meaningful employment through which they, in turn, can serve their fellow citizens.

  • To inspire within the staff and instill within the students a commitment to unselfish service to those in need.
