Patient Care Technician is in demand and offers a pathway into healthcare. Learn and work side-by-side with medical professionals.

Become prepared for different employment possibilities in hospital, physician office and other health facilities. Learn duties related to Certified Nurse Assistant, Phlebotomist or EKG technician. Some of the duties associated with the PatientCare Technician are as follows:

• Provide basic patient care — bathing, feeding, catheter care, etc.• Acquire, distribute and administer patient care supplies
• Perform safety checks and ensure cleanliness in patient rooms
• Accommodate the special needs of patients accordingly • Obtain EKG readings and monitor vital signs
• Perform phlebotomy procedures
• Provide emotional support to patients and families, particularly coping with grief and death

The student will have the knowledge of courses requirement for this program. Other requirements such as Safety with patients, HIPPA, CPR, Universal precautions, and equipment safety also emphasized. The student will learn advance skills to be competent with the health care profession. The student will receive a diploma from New Start School. Upon completion they will take the test for Patient Care Technician by the American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians.
